General Education is the Base of a College Education General education classes are required courses at all universities in order to get any degree. I went to school for a year at Brigham Young University. The previous year my father and grandfather both passed away. It was my first time away from home and was a very rough year. I met my future husband about 3 weeks after getting to college. Getting engaged and planning a marriage that year was another major change in my life and made things even harder. After marriage we found, no matter how we tried, we couldn't finance two educations. Since my husband was a year away from graduating we opted to have him finish his education. A few years after we were married I decided to attempt to go to school at Pasadena City College in California. I got pregnant just after starting and only finished one class. I decided then that I needed to put my education on hold for a while.
I have been a stay at home mom for 12 1/2 years. Now many years later I am returning to school. I am nervous and excited all at the same time. I am pursuing a degree in elementary education and hope to minor in ornamental horticulture. I would love to major in ornamental horticulture but majors in this field are not offered at any of the local universities. This is going to be an adventure in my life and you are welcome to follow it as I post various pieces of work. |
