I had a hard time coming up with an idea for an art project so I started by coming up with what I wanted it to symbolize. I wanted to make something that symbolized life. I started by finding some grapevines that I had recently pruned. The vines look brown and weathered but inside they are still green and supple. This represented to me how people grow older but still may be taught and shaped by things that happen.
I took these vines and I shaped them into a round wreath. This symbolized how life is continuous; when old things die, new things are born. It also symbolized how things from the past influence the future. Since
no one goes through life alone I wound multiple grapevines into the wreath.
I found some orange berries to represent vibrant new life. I worked these into the grape vines in a few spots to represent how the old influences the new. However, their bright color stands out against the brown grapevines representing how the young can bring new ideas to the old.

Reflection on Final Project
I do not consider myself to have a lot of artistic talent. I have always struggled in art classes and in seeing the meaning behind the art. I was really intimidated by the idea of doing an art project and needing it have some meaning. It took me a long time to come up with an idea. Once I came up with the idea it was easy to make the wreath but it was difficult to find any seeds or berries.
I surprised myself with this project and I was pleased with the way it turned out. I felt that not only did it look really good but it was also good at symbolizing what I wanted it to symbolize.
